The death of DOMA [Don't Ask, Dont Tell] occured in June, 2013, when the Supreme Court struck it down, and then the Defense Department extended civil rights to married gay and lesbian couples in December of 2013,  After that date, all legally married lesbian and gay armed services couples were extended the same rights as all other married military couples.  Seeing this gay couple, Senior Chief Dwayne Beebe-Franqui and his husband, Jonathan, go through the transition to full Marriage Equality in the military is a sweet experience.  Watching this beautiful couple buy groceries together at the commisary for the first time is such a joyous milestone to share with everyone.

Ever Cried While Watching Someone in the Military Buy Their Groceries?

The conflict between the Church and Marriage Equality heated up in 2013. After serving as pastor in the United Methodist Church for twenty years, Pastor Frank Shaefer was charged before his church court for not upholding the Methodist Book Of Order when he officiated at his gay son's marriage six months earlier. When Christian LGBTQ-affirming men and women are asked to choose between what they believe about family, love, and marriage, and their love for church law, are they being asked to sin against their own conscience?  Watch this video and see.  #MarriageEquality #Church #UMC #FrankShaeffer #PanhandleAlliance #RuralPride
